Bacteria can be programmed to fight cancer by manipulating their DNA. By introducing particular genetic sequences into bacteria, they can be instructed to synthesize different molecules, including those that disrupt cancer growth.

Sadly, “hacking bacteria to fight disease” could also be reworded into “hacking bacteria to wage war” – you know, for those nefarious types of people.
