True, it’s not simply “be happy and you will be”. But negative thoughts, although they don’t have to be given credence by your brain, can infest your thoughts and inevitably feelings.
But I think I get what you’re saying. Time and experience heals. And experiencing a time in our lives will ultimately be taken, by a person, how it should be, not necessarily how others feel is for the best. If you’re sad, there’s a reason. Don’t shelf or automatically discount that emotion. Ride it out and feel it. Maybe then it won’t fester.
