12 million people have already sent away samples of their DNA to consumer genetic testing companies to find out information about their own genetic makeup. Doing so, and agreeing to their terms and conditions, they’re giving these groups the right to their DNA. They can sell their information, and even if it leads to breakthrough, they will get nothing. So does this mean they own those people’s DNA?
