This footage taken at 1000 frames per second (fps) shows how the aerodynamics of a convertible car can prevent passengers from getting wet in the rain.
In fact, the Slow Mo Guys did hit 100 mph to take full advantage of the convertible car aerodynamics and just a slight decrease in the speed could affect how the aerodynamics of a convertible’s windshield/windscreen work.
How aerodynamics works also depends on the velocity and the direction of the wind. For example, if the velocity of the wind is 60 miles per hour, the aerodynamics would still function if you are driving at about 40 miles per hour, provided you are driving against the direction of the wind and if you’re driving at the same direction as wind, it will not work.
BMW 2 Series convertible was used for the demonstration.
…but one has to blow through the stop signs. I wonder if the flailing bodies will be dispersed in the same manner. π

Fun to watch. I’ve been in a convertible before, when my hair was to my waist. I let my hair fly in the wind–what an exhilarating feeling! Until I had to comb it out. π
