Teaching a robot how to catch an object by manually guiding through the trajectory made by an object thrown at uncovers a way to exchange information between human and robot.
Ultra-fast, the robotic arm developed by the researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute Of Technology In Lausanne (EPFL)can learn how to catch just about any object by analysing object’s shape and trajectory a few hundred times a second and construct a mathematical model of its own that allows itself to learn how to execute task in real-time.
How do you think this technology could be of help in the future?
I’m guessing this will make human baseball player obsolete.

Agree. Perhaps, it could come handy in war; catching bombs thrown by enemies, provided they reprogram the robot to throw back the bombs to the enemies. 😉
