In celebration of its 23 years in orbit, the Hubble Space Telescope revisited the famous Horsehead Nebula in the constellation of Orion (The Hunter).
Hubble Space Telescope is the most advanced optical observatory ever stationed into orbit around Earth. It was named after Edwin Hubble and built under the supervision of NASA. It was first deployed in 1990.
This is the picture of Horsehead Nebula captured by Hubble Space Telescope in the infrared, using observations from Hubble’s high-resolution Wide Field Camera 3. Typically befogged by the thick clouds of dust and gas, the baby stars can be seen enwrapped inside by whitecaps of interstellar foam.
And, this a view of the nebula in visible light, taken using the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope in Chile.
